Each year close to 21,000 students apply to our MBA program, which has a batch strength of 240 seats. We follow a unique method for shortlisting candidates for Group Discussion and Personal Interview. Apart from the SNAP test score, weightages are given to academic performance, work-experience, extra-curricular activities etc. In short, we consider the overall profile of the candidate for shortlisting. We call this system 'Selective Meriting'. This is how selective meriting works - 20% of top SNAP scorers are selected in each category from the total applicants of that category. Considerable weightage is given to the SNAP Score, Std. Xth, Std XIIth, and the aggregate graduation scores. Bonus points are given to candidates with Work-Experience, Post Graduation or a Professional Qualification. Bonus points are given to candidates with achievements in the field of art, literature, sports or science at an international level. Negative marks are given to candidates scoring less than a 60% in their Std. Xth, Std. XIIth or aggregate score of graduation. Bonus points are given to candidates passing their graduation from premier institutes like IIT and REC. Candidates are then ranked based on their scores which have predefinded weightages. The score at this stage is called 'Entrance Score' and the rank is called the 'Entrance Rank’. The top 2000 Entrance Ranks are called for Group Discussion. The top 5% of SNAP scorers from SCMHRD's application list are also shortlisted for the Group Discussion irrespective of their Entrance Rank.
